Davidson Lands Conservancy will host its annual road race, the Run for Green, on Saturday, Sept. 18, featuring 5K, 10K and half-marathon races. The routes will all begin at the Davidson Village Green, and travel partly along the town’s public greenways.
Registration is now open online at www.davidsonlands.org or at www.queencitytiming.com. Races will cap at 400 runners each, and those who pre-register before Sept. 11 receive reduced registration fees.
Davidson Green Day Festival, added to the race activities in 2009, will take place on the Village Green on race day from 9AM—1PM, featuring exhibits, displays, vendors, kids activities and music. All activities will promote ways to save money and natural resources at home and in the community. Exhibitors with a message of sustainability are now being sought. The Davidson Garden Club will also bring its annual plant sale to the Festival again this year.
Run for Green / Green Day sponsors include Omega Sports, Wooden Stone, WDAV and PostNet. All proceeds benefit the Davidson Lands Conservancy, a nonprofit land trust dedicated to protecting natural areas in and around Davidson. Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks, before and on race day.
