Local runners will have two 5K/fun-run events to participate in here in Davidson over the next few weeks: the “Fire” 5K on April 17 to benefit Ada Jenkins Center and the Davidson-Cornelius Day Care 5K/fun run on Town Day, May 1.‘FIRE’ AT ADA JENKINS APRIL 17
Registration fee for the race is $25 in advance, and $35 the day of the event. Registration for the Run begins at 8 a.m. with the Race start at 10 a.m. Race registration includes barbecue feast and music afterward, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Separate barbecue tickets are $10.
The festival includes a barbecue cook-off competition, local restaurants, celebrities, live music, and entertainment for children. Take-away meals available.

TOWN DAY RACE ON MAY 1
The annual Davidson – Cornelius Day Care Town Day 5K and Family Fun Run will be Saturday, May 1, on the Village Green. The race through Davidson streets is a fund-raiser for the center, which has been providing quality, affordable day care for 40 years.
The 1 mile fun run begins at 8 a.m., and the 5k kicks off at 8:30. It’s followed by the annual Davidson Town Day festival on the Village Green, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Entry Fees before April 28 are $15 for the Fun Run and $25.00 for the 5K. On race day the cost will be $20 for Fun Run and $30 for 5K. Printed cotton race T-shirts are guaranteed to those pre-registered by April 15. This year, runners have the option of upgrading to a “technical” T-shirt for an extra $10. That’s a that’s a lightweight moisture resistant sports shirt.
The annual pre-race Pasta Night is planned April 30 at Davidson Elementary School, with all proceeds benefiting the Day Care Center.
Parking on race day will be available at Davidson United Methodist Church, 233 S. Main St.
