MOORESVILLE – Lowe’s YMCA said Wednesday it will open a new “wellness center” within its walls, staff full-time by a registered nurse, through a partnership with Carolinas HealthCare System. The arrangement makes Mooresville the 12th branch in the Greater Charlotte Y system to have a wellness center of this kind.
The wellness center is scheduled to open April 5. The Lowe’s YMCA is at 170 Joe V. Knox Ave. in Mooresville.
The Lowe’s Y will follow the same structured used at other YMCA locations. The other health centers served 68,000 people total throughout the Charlotte region in 2009. The center will focus on disease prevention, health education, early detection of illness or injury, and physician referrals. Services will included blood pressure monitoring, cholesterol screening, health consultations and other preventative health care screenings.
