Steve Langley really used his head on this trick, as Jay Leno watched.

Huntersville juggler, entertainer and “Paddle Ball King” Steve Langley hit new heights in his profession this week: On Tuesday night he found himself on stage in Hollywood on the “Tonight Show,” chatting with host Jay Leno and performing his “Human Paddle Ball” routine. (See video below)

Steve appeared on a segment called “Meal or No Meal,” in which contestants show off a skill for judges who decide if the act is worth a free dinner.

Steve’s an old hand at doing goofy things in public. Last year, he set a Guinness world record on Italian TV for the bouncing the most paddle balls at one time. Last September, he led a crowd of hundreds on the Davidson Village Green in setting a Guinness World Record for most people paddle ball bouncing at one time. And in August of this year, he set another record with the world’s largest paddle ball.

Lately, he’s been playing around with turning himself into the paddle. On Tuesday’s “Tonight Show” he put on a pair of goggles, with a big rubber band and a balloon attached. Bobbing his head back and forth, he bounced the red balloon off his nose. In the end Steve got the meal (a $300 gift certificate to Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse in the Epicenter in Charlotte) , and a whole lot more: Exposure on national TV.

“As a performer, it’s a classy operation,” he said of the experience. “Jay is a very easy going, laid back classy guy, not a big ego. It was a totally positive experience.”
