Davidson Community Players’ Connie Co. will present “The Connie Company: Food for Thought, Recipes for Life” this Friday through Sunday, July 29-31, at three different Lake Norman locations. Davidson Community Players’ “Moon Over Buffalo” finishes its run this weekend, with 8 p.m. shows on Thursday-Saturday and a 2 p.m. show on Sunday. Davidson Public Library hosts Lunch & a Movie on Friday, screening the movie “Race to Witch Mountain.” There’s a night market at The Palace in Cornelius on Friday from 6-10 p.m. and The Palace is holding a Night of JazzSaturday, with light hor d’oeuvres on the patio.  And pair of big cycling events – 24 Hours of Booty and the Presbyterian Criterium – are scheduled this weekend in Charlotte.

This week is full of music, stories and fun. The Lake Norman Big Band is playing at Amos’ at the Lake in Cornelius on Monday. Main Street Books and Cornelius and Davidson public libraries have a number of story times for various ages this week, including a Spanish story time. Davidson Community Players’ production  “Moon Over Buffalo” plays again this weekend. There’s a night market at The Palace on Friday. Zoso, a Led Zeppelin tribute band, and Experience This, a Jimi Hendrix tribute band, will be playing together at Amos’ at the Lake on Saturday and guitarist Richard Smith will be playing at Saint Patrick’s Episcopal Church on Sunday.

The Cloers - Cate and John Cloer - play in the Summit Songwriters Showcase Thursday.

This week is full of summer outdoor activities, movies and theater. The LKN Summer Soiree at The Palace on Tuesday features an open bar and live entertainment and aids Autism Speaks. The Cornelius Outdoor Movie Series continues Wednesday night with a screening of “The Karate Kid” at Ramsey Creek Park. There’s a Songwriters Showcase at Summit Coffee on Thursday featuring The Cloers, Jamie Kay and host Rob McHale. Davidson Community Players will be presenting the comedic play “Moon Over Buffalo” starting Thursday and running through Sunday. And an outdoor screening of the film “Rio” is scheduled Saturday at McGuire Nuclear Station’s EnergyExplorium in Huntersville. Saturday also brings a Beach Bash at Bailey Road Park in Cornelius featuring the music of the North Tower Band.
