Adrienne Pederson, whose watercolors depict scenes from travels through Europe, is the featured artist in the Atrium Gallery at Davidson Town Hall through Nov. 15, 2014.

Pedersen, who turns 72 on Oct. 14, 2014, is a resident of The Pines at Davidson and a latecomer to painting. She took her first painting class just two years ago, with fellow Pines resident Katie McCloy, and says she “fell in love with it.”

A native of England, she is a retired NASA scientist with a PhD in Space Science from University College London. Her career included a stint as Deputy for Science in the office for Space Science at NASA.

Pederson and husband Ken, also a NASA retiree, have traveled widely. She says she revisits the past by painting from photographs of her favorite scenes. “It is like being there again, without the hassle of the travel,” she said.

The Town Hall gallery is open weekdays from 8am to 5pm and other hours during town events.
