The arrival of the new Our Town Cinemas at Sadler Square, off Griffith Street, has inspired The Egg @ Davidson next door to stay open during the dinner hours. The restaurant will continue to serve its breakfast and lunch menus all day in hopes of accommodating movie-goers who want a bite to eat before or after a show. The restaurant has extended its hours to Mondays to Thursdays, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sundays, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Owner Robert McCrary said it’s too early to tell what the impact will be on his business, because the theater only opened Christmas Day and because Davidson College has been on winter break. But if dinner proves popular, he could introduce new items and specials for dinner, such as “pasta nights (and) White Castle hamburger nights.”

The Egg @ Davidson opened in January 2008. It’s at 231 Griffith St., Sadler Square shopping center. www.theeggrestaurants.com.
