Local meetings this week include a bankruptcy seminar Monday, a U.S. Census presentation on Tuesday, and a chance to hear former Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory, also on Tuesday. Davidson’s Town Board will hold public hearings on the FY2012 budget and a proposal to lengthen the terms of the mayor and commissioners. In sports this week, there are four Kannapolis Intimidators baseball games against the Lexington Legends Monday to Thursday. Mooresville’s Race City Festival is Saturday, with live entertainment, arts & crafts, and more than 160 vendors. Also on Saturday, is the NC Brewers and Music Festival at Rural Hill in Huntersville. And Sunday is Davidson College graduation on the lawn in front of Chambers Hall.

Our weekend calendar in and around Davidson features the NorPac Conference field hockey tournament and basketball games at Davidson College, music, fund-raisers, the final football game of the year for Hough High, and a Sunday afternoon performance in the Music @ St. Alban’s series by New York’s David Glukh Klezmer Ensemble. North Meck High senior Gray Stanback has an opening reception for his graduation project – an exhibit of his drawings on Magnadoodle sketch boards on the theme “Art Meets Autism.”
Our Weekend Calendar is shaping up as a good one, despite the mid-summer date. The weekend includes a performance by the Alabama Blues Brothers, a Blues Brothers tribute band, in a Concert on the Green Friday. Davidson Community Players’ Connie Co. teen workshop performs a children’s theater show called “The Connie Company: Wild, Woolly and Wonderful” at several locations. Saturday brings the weekly Davidson Farmer’s Market, the Lake Norman Excursion bike ride, and a Shoes of Hope free shoe giveaway at Ada Jenkins Center.
