Christmas is upon us and house parties are everywhere. But if you’re looking for something else to do: Davidson College’s men’s basketball team plays at UMass Thursday night, and the game is on radio and internet video. There’s plenty of live music the next couple of nights, from Billy Jones and the Pocket at Summit Coffee in Davidson Thursday to Captain Lou Friday at The Brickhouse to a holiday reunion gig by local band Chasing Pedestrians Friday at Snug Harbor in Charlotte. Davidson College invites the public to a variety of events on campus in December and January, including artists’ talks, concerts, and this weekend’s Alternative Gifts Fair and Christmas Vespers events. Author Thomas Mallon, who is this year’s McGee Visiting Professor of Writing, gives a lecture in January, while Davidson Community Players teams with the college theater department in late January on a production of “Sleeping Beauty.”
