<p>Friday afternoon, there&#8217;s a wine and cheese reception Friday hosted by the Davidson Historical Society on the porch at the historic Houston house on Main Street.</p>
<p>Friday evening also features an opening reception at the Lake Norman Art League gallery in South Main Square for &#8220;Resilience,&#8221; an exhibit of artwork from the ArtWorks945 program of the Urban Ministry Center in Charlotte. And shops in the Oak Street Mill in Cornelius (behind the police station) are staging a Friday night gallery crawl as well.</p>
<p>Mooresville&#8217;s summer outdoor music and movie series both continue Friday. The Tim Clark Band from Myrtle Beach plays Friday at 6:30 on the Town Hall Green. Then, Michael Jackson&#8217;s film &#8220;This Is It&#8221; will be screened at 8:30 at Bellingham Park.</p>
<p>The State Games of North Carolina continue with a variety of sporting events at area sites. And Duke Energy hosts a free outdoor symphony concert Friday at the Energy Explorium.</p>

<p>Also at the movies: Our Town Cinemas has &#8220;Toy Story 3&#8243; on two screens, as well as &#8220;Letters to Juliet,&#8221; which theater officials says has been one of the top requests among their moviegoers lately. &#8220;Knight and Day&#8221; opens Thursday along with &#8220;Grown Ups.&#8221; And here&#8217;s a heads up: Tuesday at midnight brings the long-awaited next installment of the &#8220;Twilight&#8221; series: &#8220;Twilight Saga: Eclipse.&#8221; (Showtimes at right.)</p>

<p>Woodlawn School holds its first high school graduation on Tuesday, with a class of 2 (see the link to our feature story about the 2-person graduation class below).</p>
<p>There&#8217;s a free outdoor screening of &#8220;Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs&#8221; outside Ben &amp; Jerry&#8217;s in Davidson on Thursday night &#8211; after local public schools let out for the summer. Mooresville&#8217;s Movies on Main Series continues Friday night with &#8220;Alice in Wonderland.&#8221; And there&#8217;s a free pops concert Saturday evening at Bailey Road park with the Charlotte Symphony.</p>

<p><strong>Planning for North Davidson Parkway</strong>, 7 p.m., Davidson Town Hall, 216 S. Main St. &#8211; The Town of Davidson invites citizens to a public workshop scheduled to discuss plans for the North Davidson Parkway. It&#8217;s a road planned to connect areas along Highway NC 73 to southern Iredell County. The purpose of this workshop is to plan and confirm the best route for the future road.
