Eagle Scout Award commemorating the centennial of Scouting in America
Area Boy Scout officials will recognize the centennial of the Eagle Scout Award later this month, and they’re trying to spread the word to any Eagle Scouts who live in the Lake Norman area. Eagle is the highest rank awarded in the Boy Scouts of America. Eagle Scouts will gather Tuesday, March 16, at 6:30pm at the Charles Mack Citizen Center, 215 N. Main St., Mooresville.

Mooresville Downtown Commission announcement
MOORESVILLE – The Mooresville Downtown Commission is proud to kick off “Live in the 115,” a series of free open-air rock shows in John Franklin Moore Park on the corner of Main and Center streets. With the Thanksgiving holiday approaching, are you feeling in a charitable mood? There are plenty of events going on this weekend in Davidson and surrounding communities to fill that need – and your entertainment needs as well.
Friday brings the Mooresville-South Iredell Chamber’s annual RibFest fundraiser for the Holy Smokes Mission and Ministry and other community programs. And on Friday and Saturday, the Oak Street Mill will hold the Lake Norman Artisan Marketplace, with proceeds going toward the Kilgoris Project’s support of a Kenyan village through education, feeding programs, economic development and clean water. And Summit Coffee in downtown Davidson will hold two musical fundraisers as part of its “Movember” men’s health program. Read the full story

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2," the last film in the series, opens with a midnight show Thursday at Our Town Cinemas in Davidson and other theaters.
Our week begins with meetings – Lake Norman Marine Commission Monday, and both the Mecklenburg County Commission and Davidson Town Board Tuesday. On Wednesday, don’t be alarmed when you hear the McGuire Nuclear Station sirens being tested at 11:50 a.m. On Thursday, there’s a blood drive at Ben & Jerry’s, where donors receive a coupon for a free pint of ice cream. Bonita Knott, “the barefoot poet,” performs Friday and Saturday at Warehouse Performing Arts Center in Cornelius. On Saturday, the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Mooresville hosts a Community Fest with yard sale, farmer’s market and community business expo. Cockman Family performs Sunday at Mooresville's Charles Mack Citizens Center.
MOORESVILLE – The Cockman Family from Sherrills Ford will visit downtown Mooresville this Sunday at 4 p.m. to help celebrate the holidays with a concert of gospel Christmas music.
The band includes four brothers, a sister, and their dad. They’re known for their bluegrass gospel style and their original arrangements of old gospel tunes. They’ve made nine albums, their newest being “It Was All About Love” in 2009. Read the full story
