The Community Arts Project invites community members to attend three free events this weekend, including an opening reception for an exhibit by artist Felicia van Bork, a Drop-in Art session for children ages 18 months to 12 years, and an art and music festival for folks of all ages.


ARTIST RECEPTION WITH FELICIA VAN BORK

The Cornelius Arts Center on Friday night hosts an opening reception for the exhibit “New Monotypes,” by artist Felicia van Bork. The reception is an opportunity for community members to meet the artist, view her work and learn about her creative process. Light refreshments will be served during the event, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the center, 19725 Oak St., in the Oak Street Mill.

FREE DROP-IN ART

The Community Arts Project offers a free drop-in art day Saturday at the Cornelius Arts Center from 10 a.m. to noon.

CAP will have multiple art stations featuring projects from its upcoming fall art classes, and community members are invited to drop in and try them for free. The projects are appropriate for children ages 18 months to 12 years.

The event is part of a community celebration sponsored by Wells Fargo and the Arts and Science Council to offer free arts and cultural experiences to everyone.

After Sept. 10, CAP will offer fall drop-in art every Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon, for $6 per child per hour and $4 for a second hour or a second sibling. On “Sensational Saturdays,” everyone can drop in for $4.

BELLA LOVE PRESENTS ‘THE SOUND OF LOVE’

CAP is partnering with nonprofit Bella Love for an evening of music, art and entertainment outside of the Galway Hooker pub in Kenton place Saturday from 6 to 11 p.m.

The event includes live music, art for sale, food and drinks for purchase and a silent auction. Also at the event, local artists will create artwork while community members watch their creative process live.

A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Community Arts Project.
