“It’s a really fun way for families to come out and enjoy our waterfront, the spring weather and experience a little bit of Summer Camp here at our YMCA,” Youth Development Director Honora Ruggiero said in a statement.

The event will take place at the Lake Norman YMCA waterfront and will include bounce houses, games, canoeing and kayaking, archery, face painting, exotic animals, pony rides, local vendors and more. Also, the Cornelius Animal Shelter will have dogs available for adoption.

“Camp is the highlight of so many kids’ summers and we want to give everybody the chance to experience it, even if it’s just for one morning,” Ms. Ruggiero said.

Camp registration will be available during the event and families who sign up for a session that day will receive a gift from the Y.

The free event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lake Norman YMCA, 21300 Davidson Street, Cornelius.
