The Student Government Association of Davidson College will host its first Dinner at Davidson, a fund-raiser to benefit The Davidson Trust on Saturday, Feb. 13. The Davidson Trust is a program of financial aid aimed at eliminating loans from student financial aid packages.

Members of the greater Davidson community age 50 and above are invited to attend the event, which will take place in the student dining hall, Vail Commons, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.

The evening’s highlights include dinner, dancing, musical entertainment, as well as a silent auction. The event will also feature remarks by Davidson College President Thomas W. Ross ’72, the Mayor of the Town of Davidson John Woods, Davidson College President Emeritus John Kuykendall ’59, and students who benefit from The Davidson Trust.

The External Affairs Committee of the Student Government Association is spearheading the event and has worked hard to create an event that not only expresses the student appreciation of the greater Davidson community, but also the importance of The Davidson Trust.

The Davidson Trust enables the college to meet 100 percent of students’ demonstrated financial need, and allows these individuals the opportunity to graduate with no debt.

The evening will feature a seated, gourmet Southern cuisine meal created by the student-run PS organization, entertainment by student a capella groups and the Davidson Jazz Band, as well as items available at auction from students, community members, and local businesses. All of the proceeds from the event, from ticket sales to the silent auction items, will directly benefit The Davidson Trust.

Tickets cost $30 a person or $50 for two. Tickets are available for purchase on the Davidson web site at www.davidson.edu/tickets, by calling (704) 894-2135, at the Ticket Office in the Alvarez College Union, and will be available at the event while seats remain.
