How are those New Year’s resolutions coming?  Ever thought about improving your speaking skills?  Are you good on your feet explaining a concept?  rules of a game?  In this competitive employment market, public speaking expertise just might land you the job you want.

If you want to give public speaking a try, come visit the next Davidson Toastmasters Meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 20, when this group is holding their first open house from 5:45 – 7:15 p.m.  This event is free and open to the public.

Davidson Toastmasters is a new group that organized just last September.  Currently with 16 on the roster, they are hoping to add four new members so they can be chartered with 20 on the rolls.  They meet at the Davidson Parks & Rec offices, 416  Armour St., and welcome class members from North Mecklenburg as well as surrounding counties.

Participants vary in age and ability but basically gather to improve their communication, management and leadership skills.  Some are corporate execs; some are job hunting.  They enjoy fellowship while learning to formulate and express their ideas competently in a supportive setting.  Sounds like an interesting and educational way to spend winter evenings.
