Luckily, we live in an area with an abundance of festive options for the weekend, a few of which I’d like to narrow down for you now. Here are my picks:

  • Kick it off Friday by marching on Main Street. The Town of Davidson invites everyone to join them for their annual Halloween March. Starting with games on the Town Green at 4pm, followed by the march at 5pm, and ending with a concert featuring a performance by the band Rough Draft at Town Hall from 6-8pm. Fun for everyone awaits complete with candy for the kids courtesy of Main St merchants and vendors.   • logoSmallSaturday, it’s all about the raptors. Carolina Raptor Center hosts Hoot and Howl O’ ween, which is sure to be a hit with the entire family. Science exhibits and a jack-o-lantern contest are two activities guests can expect to enjoy that day. Free with the price of regular admission, the fun is scheduled to begin at 10am and lasts until 3pm. For a full list of everything planned, head over to their website  www.carolinaraptorcenter.org
  • Cornelius logoLast but not least, a unique opportunity to learn about the history of Cornelius presents itself Sunday during the South of Catawba with Ghostly Tales guided walking tour sponsored by the Cornelius Historic Preservation Commission. Covering a 1.25 mile course and beginning at Cornelius Town Hall at 5pm, the tour is expected to last anywhere from 1.5 to 2 hours and includes, among other sites, a stop by the cemetery at Mt Zion United Methodist Church. Prepare to be educated and scared all at once.

Have a spook-tacular weekend, everyone! May it be full of ghosts and goblins, witches and pumpkins, and all sorts of chocolate. No hard candy for me, please.
