Lake Norman Jugglers Club member Chase Martin executes an artistic bounce juggling move.

The Lake Norman Jugglers Club has partnered with the Town of Davidson and Ada Jenkins Center to offer adults and youngsters alike better opportunities to learn and explore the endless aspects of object manipulation.  The club has begun meeting on Sunday afternoons from 3-5pm in the Ada Jenkins Center gym, 212 Gamble St., Davidson.

These informal weekly gatherings are free and open to everyone through the club’s association with Davidson Parks & Recreation Department. (Children under 12 must be supervised by an adult.) Juggling club members will supply instruction and use of juggling props for those who request it. Read the full story

Enjoy lectures, related events, and other activities as we begin our first weekend of Fall. Bethel Presbyterian Church in Cornelius hosts its annual BBQ, Bake Sale, and Silent Auction all day Thursday, with barbecue for drive through, eat in, or carry out.  Thursday night at Davidson College, Pulitzer prize-winning photographer José Galvez will talk about his work documenting the experience of Latinos in the US at 7pm in Davidson College’s Belk Visual Arts Center.

Area high school football teams are at home this weekend and the Davidson Lands Conservancy’s annual Run for Green races are Saturday. It’s also Summit Coffee’s 15th birthday. Mecklenburg County Commissioner Kim Ratcliff hosts a community meeting Thursday at 7pm in the Cornelius Town Hall – bring your questions about county government. Alsot Thursday, the Women’s Issues Therapy Group meets from 6:30-8pm at the Counseling Center at DUMC.  Bella Love and Kadi Fit are teaming up again this week for Open Mic Night at Kadi Fit Studios, starting Thursday at 8pm. The last week of summer features high school sports, lectures, and numerous special interest meetings across the region. Tonight, join the newly formed Huntersville “Happy Hour” Rotary Club at Dressler’s in Birkdale Village from 5:30-6:30pm – they meet every Monday to discuss service and leadership in the community. Hough High’s men’s soccer team takes on Mallard Creek at home starting at 6pm, and The Lake Norman Big Band plays at the Finish Line Restaurant starting at 7pm. As a boater, there are times when wakes aren’t welcome. For example, last Sunday in our cove a couple rudely whizzed by us in a bass boat, completely ignoring buoys and the rules that accompany them. Instead, they interrupted our still, quiet moment anchored in the sun. That wake was not welcome. This won’t be the case, however, on Saturday (Sept. 14) near Eddie’s Seafood & Raw Bar in Mooresville. Wakes will, indeed, be welcome, and needed to serve up heart-stopping, adrenaline-packed, entertaining action.
