David Henry Hwang

Playwright and screenwriter David Henry Hwang will give the annual annual Reynolds Lecture at Davidson College Monday night, Nov. 4, on the theme “The Fluidity of Identity.” Meanwhile, this weekend brings “Alice in Wonderland” at W.A. Hough High School, a show organizers are calling an “outrageous and fun take” on the classic tale.   “Twelfth Night” is on stage at Davidson College and “The Wizard of Oz” is offered by the local theater group ACT, at Woodlawn School. Happy Halloween! Enjoy the weekend with numerous family events, theatre performances, and athletics events in the Lake Norman Region. Thursday afternoon, Discovery Place KIDS in Huntersville is hosting safe trick-or-treating at Discovery Place from 11am to 2pm. In downtown Cornelius, Bella Love is hosting Halloween in Old Town Cornelius along Catawba Avenue and the Oak Street Mill. Awadagin Pratt

Davidson College’s 2013-14 Concert Series season continues this Saturday, Nov. 2, with a performance by accomplished concert pianist Awadagin Pratt. Meanwhile, organ fans will get a multi-performer treat on Nov. 12 with Organ Plus! And electric violinist Mark Wood will be back in the area next week for a workshop and performance with local high school students, as part of his Electrify Your Strings, and a special appearance at local shop Davidson Violins. This Week, enjoy art exhibits, lectures at Davidson College, and community events to celebrate Halloween. Today, the Rotary Club of North Mecklenburg will host its 23rd annual Charity Golf Tournament starting at noon at River Run Country Club.
