Davidson’s Art on the Green festival is back for another year, running Saturday and Sunday in downtown Davidson. This weekend also brings the season’s first Concert of the Green, a performance by the Davidson College Symphony and Jazz Ensemble on Sunday. The Jazz Ensemble also plays Friday, alongside Latin jazz composer arranger Bernardo Hernandez. The region’s Jewish community gathers at Davidson College Thursday night for Yom HaShoah, a Holocaust Remembrance ceremony. In Huntersville, get on your kilt for the 19th annual Rural Hill Scottish Festival and Loch Norman Highland Games. Saturday morning brings Earth Day activities in Cornelius and around Lake Norman, there’s a breakfast at Davidson Presbyterian Church and the Davidson Farmer’s Market is open until noon. There are a lot of good cultural events happening this weekend to get excited about. Friday, former president and general manager of Lowe’s Motor Speedway Humpy Wheeler speaks at Davidson College and there’s an arts festival at Cannon School featuring Omimeo Mime Theatre. Saturday is Ada Jenkins Center’s “Fire” 5k and BBQ Fundraiser. The Art on the Green juried art festival is Saturday and Sunday and includes live music and food. Davidson’s Farmer’s Market is open and North Mecklenburg High School is having a horticultural sale on Saturday morning. There’s a big outdoor spring music festival in Charlotte called AWOL, and the Queen’s Cup in Mineral Springs, both on Saturday.

Davidson’s annual Art on the Green festival returns to the Village Green this weekend, part of the April is for Arts celebration of art and culture in North Mecklenburg. Art on the Green includes food, music, and a juried exhibit and demonstrations of arts and crafts by regional artists.

The festival is Saturday, April 30, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, May 1, from noon to 4 p.m.

It’s Davidson College reunion weekend, with a horde of alumni due back in town for festivities on campus. Welcome alums! Elsewhere in town, it’s the annual Art on the Green festival downtown, the season’s first Concert on the Green Sunday (featuring the Davidson College Symphony and Jazz Ensemble), and an exclusive screening of the North Carolina-produced film “Wesley,” about the life of John Wesley.
