Davidson College’s Belk Family Performance Hall will groove to the sounds of jazz when Jeremy Davis and the Fabulous Equinox Jazz Orchestra cuts loose with its high-energy stage show on Monday night. The performance by the Equinox Jazz Orchestra highlights a week’s worth of activities and events in Davidson and the surrounding communities. On stage, the Warehouse Performing Arts Center in Cornelius wraps up its run of the comedy “On The Verge” this week with shows Thursday through Saturday, and an ensemble from the Connie Company — the Davidson Community Players’ youth company — puts on a free performance of “A Thousand Cranes” on Friday and Saturday. Employees at Ingersoll Rand in Davidson competed in a triathlon last month, and ended up raising $60,000 for the Ada Jenkins Center on Gamble Street. Meanwhile, looking ahead at fund-raising events next week: Women of NASCAR are hosting a fund-raising dinner Tuesday, Sept. 7, as they team up to raise money to build a Habitat for Humanity house. And Lake Norman YMCA is seeking donations of items for its annual Community Garage Sale, which is Saturday, Sept. 11. Those events and more in our fund-raising calendar below.
It’s a busy week ahead in Davidson with several Town Board meetings, lectures and other events at Davidson College, and some big weekend fund-raisers, including the “Fire” 5k/Fun Run and Barbecue Festival at Ada Jenkins Center and a Habitat for Humanity Car Show. The Davidson Senior Scholars have a session on Social Security and Medicare changes Wednesday.
