Tennessee Williams, an icon of classic theater, died 30 years ago but his work remains vibrantly alive on Davidson’s Armour Street stage this month. This week in the regional music scene, two Davidson music venues are hosting singer/songwriters and an up-and-coming band, and St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Charlotte will host its 13th Annual Cabaret Night. The Light Factory, a 41-year-old museum in Charlotte focused on photography and film, announced Monday it had run out of cash and was suspending operations. One of my favorite art festivals returns this Saturday, Oct. 5, in Sherrills Ford. Our neighboring town on the other side of the lake plays host to the 5th Annual Lake Norman Folk Arts Festival.

Beginning at 10am and running until 4pm, the event sponsored by the Hickory Museum of Art promises a beautiful waterfront location, the wonderful sounds of bluegrass music with live performances by “Still Pickin,” as well as talented artists. In addition to this, expect food vendors, a silent auction, and quilt raffle to be incorporated into the day. Continue Reading
