SUMMARY:Widen I-77 forum
DESCRIPTION:From Widen I-77: After the large turnout of concerned citizens over the proposed tolls on I-77 at last week’s event at Michael Waltrip Racing in Cornelius\, WidenI77.org has scheduled an additional presentation for the public. This event will take place this coming Thursday\, Feb. 26 at 7:00 p.m. at River Run Country Club in Davidson\, 19125 River Falls Dr\, Davidson. All are invited. On Tuesday\, Feb. 24\, the group also will host a previously scheduled event at the Charles Mack Center in Mooresville at 7pm. Several new developments have taken place in recent months and weeks following the group filing a lawsuit to halt the toll project from Charlotte’s Highway 277 to Exit 36 on I-77. Instead of public-private toll roads with a $650 million+ price tag and a contract for 50 years with a private company from Spain called Cintra\, WidenI77.org is advocating for general purpose lanes that are estimated to cost about $100 million.
