SUMMARY:Free piano recital
DESCRIPTION:The public is invited to a piano recital featuring students from the Davidson studio of Theresa Woody. With students ranging from age 6 to 16\, the music will be varied: from beginner's pieces to standards in the classical literature\, including works by C.P.E. Bach\, Mozart\, and Beethoven.    With a music degree from UNC-Chapel Hill\, Woody focuses on the basics of playing and reading music. Her students demonstrate mastery of the skills required to perform well.    Admission is free on Sunday\, Feb. 1 at 3pm\, in the sanctuary of Davidson College Presbyterian Church. Reception follows.

DESCRIPTION:[caption id="attachment_28299" align="alignleft" width="197"] Protopopescu (left) and Pae[/caption]    The Davidson College Concert Series presents cellist Deborah Pae and pianist Dana Protopopescu on Sunday\, Feb. 1\, 2015\, at 3pm in Tyler-Tallman Hall. See also other music events below.     We're giving away pairs of tickets\, with a drawing Thursday\, Jan. 29\, at noon. If you're interested\, email Lyndsay (ads@davidsonnews.net) before the drawing.      Pae is a seasoned soloist\, recitalist and chamber musician. Since her international debut in 2003 at the 45th Annual Grammy Awards and her European recital debut at the Louvre in 2005\, Pae has performed across four continents and in dozens of countries\, sharing the stage with celebrated artists Itzhak Perlman\, Arnold Steinhardt\, Pamela Frank\, Miriam Fried and more.    Protopopescu is a well known chamber musician and solo pianist\, who debuted at age 16 with the Brasov Philharmonic Orchestra. She made a name for herself performing at piano competitions and with European conductors and orchestras. She has performed in the past with the Davidson Trio.    The concert will include works by Bach\, Barber\, Tchaikovsky and Brahms. Davidson cellist Alan Black will join the duo for a special piece by Astor Piazzolla.    Individual tickets cost $5-$17.
