Event Navigation
Community School of Davidson is holding auditions for its summer community youth production of “Carrie,” the musical, on Feb. 25 and 26, beginning at 6:30 p.m. With themes of acceptance, individuality and the negative effects of bullying, this innovative musical utilizes strong music, a suspenseful book and great special effects to tell the story of misfit Carrie White. Based on the novel by Stephen King, and the movie of the same name, the CSD production will be performed in the CSD High School black box theatre (ArtSpace). Rehearsals will begin in late May. The production will run for seven performances July 8-12. It will be directed by Melissa Ohlman-Roberge, with musical direction by Zack Tarelton, and choreography by Emily Hunter.
Auditions will be held at Community School of Davidson High School. Auditionees need only come to one session and should plan to arrive no later than 8 p.m. Callbacks will be held Feb. 26 by invitation only. The director is seeking energetic, committed and focused youth who are high school/college aged for this unique production of this daring musical. Prepare 16 bars of a contemporary musical theatre song; bring music in the proper key, an accompanist will be provided. One-minute monologue welcomed but not required. Bring a recent photo and a copy of schedule conflicts from mid-May though July 12.
