WOW nature outing
June 14, 2014 @ 9:30 am - 11:00 am
Davidson Lands Conservancy and Woodland Discovery will host a free World of Wonder nature outing called Nature Numbers in the Davidson/north Mecklenburg area, “Discover Patterns in Nature,” with Tim and Tanya Chartier. It’s Saturday, June 14, 9:30-11am.
Did you know that pinecones, pineapples, daisies, beehives, bananas – all have a numbering system? It’s called the Fibonacci sequence and they appear all sorts of places in nature! Tim Chartier, associate professor of mathematics and computer science at Davidson College, and Tanya Chartier, a K-12 educator, will show us how this fascinating number system works – and we’ll discover patterns in nature ourselves. Wear sturdy footwear with socks and consider wearing long sleeves and long pants. We will be on and off trails in open woodland.
This outing is open to children with their families, with a minimum age of 7 years. Please, no strollers or dogs.
Location and other details will be sent to those who pre-register. Pre-registration is required. For a registration form, send an email to dlc.wow@gmail.com.
