WFAE public forum on HOAs
February 6, 2014 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Thousands of Charlotte-area residents live in neighborhoods that have a homeowners association (HOA). HOAs are often praised for keeping communities cleaner, safer and more livable. But some homeowners complain that HOA boards can be too rigid and arbitrary in enforcing covenants and restrictions, infringing on homeowners’ rights.
WFAE’s Public Conversations series explores the pros and cons of living in an HOA community, along with the rights and responsibilities of HOA residents and boards. “Your HOA & You: Who Rules the Neighborhood?” is Thurs., Feb. 6, 7-8:30 p.m., at Davidson Day School, in Davidson.
Moderated by WFAE’s Greg Collard, the conversation will also address current state laws that govern Homeowner Associations in North Carolina and proposed changes to those laws. Panelists include:
- Michael Hunter – Horack, Talley, Pharr & Lowndes, P.A.
- State Rep. Rodney W. Moore, Mecklenburg County
- Bob Brethen, president of Stephens Grove HOA Board
Free admission; registration requested. For more information, visit WFAE.org.
