On Saturday, May 17, 2014, the STEM (Science Technology Engineering & Mathematics) Career Path Project (SCPP) will host a free career exploration event called the “STEM Experience” at the Ada Jenkins Center in Davidson, NC. The event, from 11:30am to 4pm, will include food and hands-on activities where students can program robots, build wind turbines, launch rockets and experiment with electrical circuits.
The project also will award two $500 scholarships during the day.
The STEM Career Path Project‘s mission is to increase the number of qualified STEM workers by providing career education and development to youth and young adults. This is a chance to give back to the community and give at-risk youth life-changing opportunities.
“Events like the “STEM Experience” gives us an opportunity to reach out to our community and show our youth that STEM education is fun and worth pursuing as a career,” said Edward McFadden, founder of the STEM Career Path Project.
