Sylv Ramsden was a member of The Silkie, a 1960s English folk-pop quartet that scored a U.S. Billboard Top Ten hit with “You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away,” a song they recorded with The Beatles. Considered the English version of Peter, Paul and Mary, The Silkie toured with British Invasion bands including The Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart, Marianne Faithful, The Hollies, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Lulu and The Animals. After the band split, Sylv and her husband, Mike, performed as a duo for another forty years in venues around the world.
Jamie Ramsden is Sylv’s son and a local singer/songwriter. His first release, “Sunshine of My Soul,” made the airwaves on both sides on the pond, including England’s Radio Merseyside and NPR’s long-running Morning Becomes Eclectic.
