Davidson LifeLine invites residents to to “Be4Me: A Parent Guide to the Teen World of Social Media” on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 7-8:30 pm, at the Davidson United Methodist Chapel.
Join local experts as we walk through the Top 10 Principles of Social Media, Digital Citizenship, and Effective Boundaries. Diane Benson, Executive Director of Foundation for Respect Ability, Shannon White, mental health professional from the Davidson United Methodist Church Counseling Center, and Officer Phil Geiger, a Town of Davidson Police Officer with a special interest in cyberbullying will offer a short presentation, followed by lots of time for questions.
Topics such as social media platforms, definitions of bullying and cyberbullying and discerning bullying from cruelty, four steps to creating and holding boundaries with children, and samples of digital family agreements will be covered. A 30 page guide, “Be4Me: A Parent’s Guide to Social Media, Digital Citizenship, and Effective Boundaries” will be available to participants.
Davidson LifeLine heard, loudly and clearly, that parents in the community want information and guidance when it comes to helping their children navigate the virtual world they have little understanding of but know is crucial in effective parenting. The information offered in Be4Me is a great starting point, informationally and then conversationally, with our kids.
