On Saturday, The Birdsnest in downtown Davidson will host an evening with Canadian singer/songwriters Ria Mae and Chris Velan this starting at 8pm.

Tickets for The Birdsnest’s shows are $10 in advance, or $15 at the door and are on sale now. A portion of each ticket goes to Habitat for Humanity. You can reserve advance tickets by emailing davidsonncmusic@hotmail.com, call or drop by the shop during business hours. Seating will begin 15 minutes prior to the show.

Canadian singer/songwriter Ria Mae will perform at The Birdsnest this Saturday

Hailing from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Ria Mae is a versatile artist who creates songs with universal themes of longing, love lost, and hearts found. She has had an outstanding year with the release of her debut full-length album, “Under Your Skin,” produced by Asif Illyas. “Under Your Skin” won the 2012 East Coast Music Award for Pop Recording of the Year, Ria was a finalist for the 2011 International Mountain Stage NewSong Contest, and was the Regional Winner and National Runner-up for the 2012 Canada-wide Radio Star Contest.

Chris Velan is a Montreal based singer-songwriter and world music producer. For his fifth full-length outing, The Long Goodbye, he has returned with a collection of songs that chart the emotional depths and shallows navigated in the aftermath of a relationship’s end.
