After the first leg of the swim the SEALs will continue swimming 12.2 miles ending up at The Rusty Rudder in Cornelius. The swim will begin at 11am at The Blue Parrot and end around 7pm at the Rudder.
A post swim celebration will include live music, silent and live auctions. The goal of the swim is to raise awareness to help support one of the programs available to veterans called, Operation Restored Warrior that is a direct recipient of funds through New Horizons Foundation.
Operation Restored Warrior assists those who are struggling to make the transition back to their communities. The program is open to all faiths and brings together mission, healing, and ministry to places and memories within the warrior’s heart and mind that need the hope and healing through multiple day wilderness settings and interaction with veterans. The program helps them deal with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), Combat Related Stress, and other classifications of challenges that many of these soldiers face daily.
