November 1, 2013 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Event Navigation
Charlotte and Lake Norman area shoppers can get a head start on holiday shopping while supporting the efforts of a global non-profit, The Kilgoris Project. Under the theme “Little Gift, Big Gift” the organization shows how purchasing small gifts such as handmade scarves, jewelry and children’s toys can help The Kilgoris Project provide big gifts, including education and medical care to children in Southwest Kenya year-round.
The Marketplace will take place on Friday, November 1 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, November 2 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at KadiFit in the Oak Street Mill (19274 Oak Street #6) in Cornelius. In addition to handmade gifts from Kenya, the Marketplace will feature 15 local artists displaying and selling their work. On Saturday, the event will feature live music as well as children’s activities and food trucks throughout the day.
The Kilgoris Project operates five schools, helping to educate more than 600 pre and primary school students. Additionally, through their health outreach, students receive well-child checks, and access to nutritious meals and hand washing stations at school. The organization also partners with the Kilgoris community to run a tea farm and women’s co-op, both generating income for the community.
