Event Navigation
Studio-C Cinema, an “art house cinema at the Cornelius Art Center,” will screen the film “Point & Shoot” by 2-time Academy Award nominee Marshall Curry on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 10-11, at 7pm.
The 83-minute documentary follows Matt VanDyke, who left home in Baltimore in 2006 and set off on a “crash course in manhood.” He bought a motorcycle and a video camera and began a multi-year, 35,000-mile motorcycle trip through Northern Africa and the Middle East. Matt fought in — and filmed — the war until he was captured by Gaddafi forces in Libya and held in solitary confinement for six months. Filmmaker Marshall Curry tells this harrowing and sometimes humorous story of a young man’s search for political revolution and personal transformation. Doors open 6:15pm for a wine and cheese reception and art gallery browsing. Screening begins at 7pm. Informal discussion follows. $9 for Cornelius residents/$10 non-residents. More information and advance tickets available at www.studioccinema.com Cornelius Art Center is in the Oak Street Mill, 19725 Oak St., Cornelius.
