Off to a four-game unbeaten streak for the second straight year, Davidson will wrap up its five-game homestand with a 7 p.m. contest against in-state foe Wake Forest Tuesday night at Alumni Stadium.
The Wildcats, who opened the 2013 slate 4-0-1, are 2-0-2 on the young season following a 1-1 draw with Belmont Abbey on Friday evening. Just prior to the contest being called due to severe weather, Davidson’s Valeriy Sviderskiy provided a 78th minute equalizer, his second goal in as many contests.
Sviderskiy (2G, 1A) and Alan Reiter (2G, 1A) lead the Wildcat attack with five total points each. In addition, Davidson has been very impressive at the defensive end allowing just four goals in as many contests.
After dropping contests to nationally-ranked UCLA and California to begin the year, Wake Forest has won three straight and will enter its first road game of the season 3-2-0.
Michael Gamble has scored a pair of goals and set up four more for the Demon Deacons, who are averaging 18.0 shots and two goals per contest.
The two teams have met 32 times on the pitch with the Demon Deacons winning 16 straight and leading the all-time series, 27-4-1.
