Davidson-based nonprofit business incubator PiES (Project for Innovation, Energy and Sustainability) hosts its first major fundraiser, “A Slice of Jazz,” on Saturday night, March 21, at Kadi Fit in the Oak Street Mill, Cornelius.
A Slice of Jazz will feature two local bands – Goodfoot Down and Aria Jazz Trio – as well as hors d’oeuvres, North Carolina craft beer and wine. Read the full story

Pianist George Winston confesses that he needs to practice hard to achieve the effortless sound of his performances. “Playing doesn’t come easy to me,” he said, though fans of his work – recorded on 13 solo studio albums – might find that hard to believe.
Winston will perform at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church on March 18 at 7:30pm. He recently talked about the inspiration for his songs, his personal connection to the town, and why he donates proceeds from his shows to local charities. Read the full story

Davidson Local will perform a benefit concert at Summit Coffee in Davidson Friday night from 8-11 to raise money for Joe Steele and his family. Joe is the Davidson College Physical Plant worker who was badly burned last month in a steam-heater accident on campus. Read the full story
