Davidson Community Players’ production of “Masterpiece” takes the stage this weekend. At Davidson College, the Wildcat baseball team will be playing three games against Furman. North Carolina’s Poet Laureate Cathy Smith Bowers speaking at the Charlotte Writer’s Club’s March meeting on Thursday. There’s a business expo that will showcase Lake Norman businesses, nonprofits and attractions all day Friday, and Davidson library has preschool and toddler story times on Friday as well.
On Saturday, there’s a Special Olympics interest meeting at Bailey Middle School for parents, athletes, coaches and volunteers interested in being involved. Sunday, Mt. Zion United Methodist Church hosts a solo piano concert featuring Katie Reimer.

Lectures, readings, concerts, and stage performances art among the public events this month at Davidson College. The schedule includes a 42-year-retrospective exhibit of the art of Davidson art professor Herb Jackson, who is retiring at the end of the school year. The college’s Gamut Dance Co. performs March 11-12. And area high school students will be on campus March 19 for a program called March MATHness. Those events and more below:
A fund-raising book fair with visits by authors runs all this week at Davidson Day School. Meanwhile, Davidson public library is hosting a book discussion for adults about the children’s author Helen Oxbury on Monday afternoon. On Tuesday, Brian Balfour, the Budget & Tax Policy Analyst at the Civitas Institute, speaks in Mooresville about the future of the state government and the Davidson Town Board holds a “Commissioner Chat.” North Carolina’s Poet Laureate Cathy Smith Bowers will be speaking at the Thursday meeting of the Charlotte Writer’s Club. The play “Masterpiece” continues this weekend and there are three Davidson Wildcat baseball games against Furman.
