Gallery crawl, Art on the Green just ahead; new this year: art films at Our Town Cinemas

It’s April and that means the annual month of art and cultural activities is in the offing in Davidson and north Mecklenburg. This year’s events include the Gallery Crawl Friday evening, April 16, the two-day Art on the Green festival (April 24-25), and the start of another season of Concerts on the Green on April 25.

And this year’s festival has a new element: Screenings of a series of art films at Davidson’s new movie theater, Our Town Cinemas, in Sadler Square.

Author and poet Don Mager is at Charlotte Writers Club North Thursday.

davidson weekend calendarIt’s Easter weekend, with a variety of egg hunts Saturday and church services Sunday, April 4, including two sunrise services. There’s also music and literature. Author and poet Donald Mager speaks Thursday, April 1, at the monthly meeting of Charlotte Writers’ Club North. And an April Fool’s a cappella concert is on tap at Davidson College. Ben & Jerry’s hosts a “Give a Pint, Get a Pint” blood drive Friday. And there’s a Davidson Farmers Market on Saturday next to Town Hall.

Mt. Zion Methodist announces free concert lineup

Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Cornelius has announced the musical lineup for its spring and summer Cornelius Concert Series. Mick & The Ultras (rock and blues) will pay May 16, Testify (musical drama) is scheduled June 12, and the St. James Male Chorus performs July 11.
