Several public meetings are on the schedule this week. The Planning Board monthly meeting is tonight at Town Hall. On Tuesday, learn more about a regional bicycle plan for Lake Norman and put in your two cents at Town Hall. And the Design Review Board examines some downtown signs and awnings Wednesday. It’s another big music weekend ahead, with a Concert on the Green featuring rock and roll with Sound Barrier. And Friday through Sunday in Union Grove, Iredell County, it’s the 85th Ole Time Fiddlers and Bluegrass Festival, which claims to be the oldest continuous festival of its kind.

Expect a bit of pomp and circumstance about the place this weekend as families flock to town for Sunday’s 172nd Davidson College commencement ceremonies.  Elsewhere, there’s the Fourth Annual Dragon Boat Festival in Cornelius, a dog show organized by  Woodlawn student Brooke Phillips, a Slow Food taste feast and the launch party for an art project involving a very special deck of cards. Meanwhile, the Davidson Farmers Market will have strawberries and other locally-grown produce Saturday morning next to Town Hall. Come shop and listen to live music from Davidson Express.
