Our Easter weekend community calendar brings a variety of seasonal activities, from egg hunts and Easter Sunday services to holiday brunches and athletics – including a Hough High girls’ soccer game against Lake Norman. Local music venues are busy the next few nights, and the schedule includes a pair of gigs – one in Davidson and one in Cornelius – for local guitarist and songwriter Rusty Knox. Carrburritos in Davidson also starts a regular music series Thursday night with a jazz trio. The Davidson Farmer’s Market has a winter tailgate market Saturday, and the Lake Norman Rotary hosts 5K and 10K races on Saturday morning off Sam Furr Road in Huntersville. student-run Dinner at Davidson fund-raiser for financial aid. Two nights of talks April 8-9 will focus on “Religious Ethics in Contemporary Society” and Wake Forest University professor Randall G. Rogan will give the annual Chidsey Leadership Lecture on April 9. At mid-month, athletic director Jim Murphy will give a public lecture on “Ethics in Sports.” And on April 17, the college will dedicate the latest addition to its outdoor sculpture college, “Waves III” by Spanish sculptor Jaume Plensa. The artists behind two exhibits currently on view in Davidson will be in the spotlight at receptions this week. On Wednesday night, Summit Coffee on Main Street will host a reception for David Alan Goldberg, who goes by “DAG,” and his exhibit “Carolina Revelries: Legends and Landmarks.” And on Friday afternoon, there’s a reception at Davidson Town Hall for painter Mary Crow, whose work is there this month. Also coming up: Mooresville Artist Guild’s 35th annual Spring Artfest.
