MOORESVILLE – The blood-thirsty zombies are back at “Scarrigan Farms” this fall for the seventh season of haunted thrills and gruesome chills. Beginning Friday, Oct. 5, and continuing Friday to Sunday nights through Nov. 2 (and Thursday, Oct 31), brave guests will run, slide and crawl through the ½-mile, multi-leveled haunted trail, as they attempt to escape forest ghouls and wilderness psychos. All summer long there the patio thrived (when it wasn’t raining,) a welcome addition to the restaurant scene making good use of the courtyard fronting Catawba Ave. The attractive center bar flanked by seating all around is inviting, but the huge outdoor fireplaces hinted that something better was in store for us later in the year.   Read the full story

The Lake Norman Jugglers Club has partnered with the Town of Davidson and Ada Jenkins Center to offer adults and youngsters alike better opportunities to learn and explore the endless aspects of object manipulation.  The club has begun meeting on Sunday afternoons from 3-5pm in the Ada Jenkins Center gym, 212 Gamble St., Davidson.

These informal weekly gatherings are free and open to everyone through the club’s association with Davidson Parks & Recreation Department. (Children under 12 must be supervised by an adult.) It’s typically taboo to pulling out your smartphone in a theater. But a new play written and produced by Davidson College student thespians will encourage the audience to do just that. “Spark Source” was created with funding from the Davidson Research Initiative and runs this weekend at Warehouse Performing Arts Center in Cornelius, exploring the social implications of technology and social media.

Performances are Friday, Sept. 27, and Saturday, Sept. 28, at 7:30pm and at 2pm Sunday, Sept. 29. Tickets are $10 for regular admission and $5 for students, and they are available only online at
