Our calendar of events this weekend brings bass fishers to Lake Norman and includes two theater opportunities: Davidson College Theatre Department’s production of the cross-dressing comedy “Leading Ladies” and Davidson Community Players’ “Violet.” And on Sunday, March 28, 16-year-old flutist Sarah Sullivan joins members of the St. Alban’s Bach Festival Orchestra in a Music at St. Alban’s series concert.

Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Cornelius has announced the musical lineup for its spring and summer Cornelius Concert Series. Mick & The Ultras (rock and blues) will pay May 16, Testify (musical drama) is scheduled June 12, and the St. James Male Chorus performs July 11.

On Sunday, March 28, the Music at St. Alban’s series presents the gifted 16-year-old flutist Sarah Sullivan and members of the St. Alban’s Bach Festival Orchestra in a concert titled “Bohemian Rhapsody: Music of Mozart’s Prague. The concert begins at 3 p.m. at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 301 Caldwell Lane.

Davidson College's crew hosts charity regatta for Habitat for Humanity Saturday.
Friday is Arbor Day in Davidson, with an afternoon celebration on the Village Green, organized by the Town of Davidson’s Natural Assets and Tree Advisory Board.
Events leading up to the day a lunchtime seminar Thursday at Town Hall on home gardening. Performances of “Violet” continue at Davidson Community Players’ Armour Street Theatre. Duke Energy CEO Jim Rogers speaks about “green” energy during a conference Saturday at Davidson College. And Davidson Farmers Market hosts another winter tailgate market Saturday downtown.
