
Opening at Our Town Cinemas

Cornelius has an Earth Day celebration Thursday at Smithville Park with games, music and arts & crafts. Also on Thursday, Jimmy Buffett is performing in Charlotte while on stage at Davidson College, performances of student-directed one-act plays continue. There’s an Earth Day concert in Davidson at the Birdsnest on Friday where ticket sales will go towards converting one of Davidson’s streetlights to solar power. The Davidson Farmer’s Market is open Saturday morning, and the weekend also brings egg hunts at venues such as Latta Plantation and Rural Hill as well as Easter services Sunday.

This weekend’s musical lineup at Summit Coffee in Davidson includes The Mark Mandeville and Raianne Richards Duo, Chuck Johnson and Host Rob McHale on Thursday night, Davidson Local on Friday, and the Rick Spreitzer Trio on Saturday. At Friday night’s Davidson Local show, they’ll be passing the hat for Ernest Jeffries, the Davidson College dean and Gethsemane Baptist Church pastor whose home was destroyed in a fire two weeks ago.
