Davidson College Theatre Department produces Lillian Hellman’s “The Little Foxes” this weekend, with five performances Wednesday to Sunday, Nov. 16-20, at the Barber Theatre in Cunningham Theater Center off North Main Street in Davidson.

“The Little Foxes” is directed by Davidson senior Kia Hunter. The classic melodrama is set in the deep South at the turn of the 20th century. It tells the story of the Hubbard siblings, who are overwhelmed by greed, hatred and corruptin as they try to join forces with a Chicago capitalist to build a cotton mill. The tale pits family members against each other in a quest for wealth, power, and independence. Read the full story

Davidson Community Players’ Connie Company youth program will present “Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr.” Nov. 5-13 at the Armour Street Theatre in Davidson. Based on the Emmy Award-winning, Saturday morning educational cartoon series that aired in the 1970s and 1980s, “Schoolhouse Rock Live!” is now the basis for one of the most fun, energetic, and toe-tapping musicals ever to hit the stage!

For young people in the 1970s and 80s who had a hard time remembering the difference between adjectives and adverbs, what a conjunction was and how to use it, or how legislative bill navigates the US Congress, they may just have Schoolhouse Rock to thank for their lessons. The pop culture phenomenon is now experiencing a new life on the stage in “Schoolhouse Rock Live!” for a whole new generation. Read the full story

Duo Pleyel, a two-man combo of pianist Andrew Willis and cellist Brent Wissick will perform this Sunday afternoon, Nov. 6, in the Music @ St. Alban’s Concert Series at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, Davidson.

The concert begins at 3 p.m. at the church, 301 Caldwell Lane, off Concord Road.
