Robert Farber, “Altar #1, 1990,” is among the works in Davidson College’s upcoming show “Re/Presenting HIV/AIDS”
Cornelius Arts Center has set a Sept. 1 deadline for area residents and artists to submit handmade art teacups for an upcoming show. Meanwhile, Davidson College Art Galleries will open an exhibit next week titled “Re/Presenting HIV/AIDS, works by 12 artists’ visual representations of the disease from scientific and artistic perspectives. Also, works by Mooresville-based artist Franklin Kernes are featured at Davidson Town Hall through Sept. 15. Read the full story

Davidson Film Club and lifelong education group DavidsonLearns present a screening of “If a Tree Falls,” the Academy Award-nominated documentary by Charlotte native Marshall Curry and Sam Cullman, on Saturday, Sept. 13, in Davidson. Curry will lead a discussion at the screening. Also below, filmmakers are invited to enter the “100 Words Film Festival” this fall. And other films coming up include Cornelius PARC’s outdoor screening of “Grown Ups 2″ on Wednesday, the Swedish film “As it Is in Heaven” Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Davidson Film Club, and the Italian film “The Great Beauty” on Sept. 6-7 at Studio-C Cinema in Cornelius Arts Center.
