weekend calendar bug Keep your Independence weekend going as we keep the events rolling! Our calendar this weekend has lots of of great options that are certain to keep you busy on Saturday and Sunday. Read on for the details:

Are you thinking: What is the best way to kick-off my Saturday? Why not participate in the 12th Annual Firecracker 5k? Trade in your red, white and blue for your running shoes and make no excuses, because this run is for the novice runner to the competitive runner! Afterwards, head to either The Davidson Farmer’s Market or the Downtown Mooresville Farmer’s Market and enjoy a selection of foods from nearby farmers and vendors. If you’re already up in Mooresville, then stop by Richard’s for a cup of joe and a little bluegrass jam.

Happy 4^th of July holiday week! Our calendar is full of events this week, concluding with a preview of holiday festivals and fireworks. Among the highlights: a discussion in Davidson with an architect and urban designer, $1 movies for kids on both Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, and a party at the Brickhouse Tavern Tuesday to celebrate the first official day of Davidson College’s membership in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Gear up for a workout benefiting Autism Charlotte at CrossFit LKN. Harvey’s in Huntersville is having its annual art crawl and festival, and the whole family can prepare for July 4 festivities by going to hear the Charlotte Symphony and see fireworks at Bailey Road Park. Kickin’ off summer with camps, movies and more

Finally it is summertime and a packed-full one at that! So get out your calendar and take note of the great choices we have for you on our calendar this week. Pack up the kids on Monday and send them off to The Raptor Center for camp. Tuesday and Wednesday morning stay indoors, and enjoy summer movies at Regal Birkdale Stadium 16. Check out Legion Baseball on Wednesday and Friday and A Cam Newton football tournament on Thursday and Friday. Relax to some music at Bacchus Wine and Tapas, or grab your blanket and head outdoors to catch a concert and a film. Don’t miss out on the last week of 42nd Street or a murder mystery at the Mooresville Public Library. Farmer’s markets, movies, music

This weekend’s community calendar is packed full of great options for this rather toasty NC Saturday and Sunday. We have two different farmer’s markets for you to choose from, and Discovery Place Kids Huntersville will certainly keep the kids entertained with three different events. The Raptor Center will host their flight show on both Saturday and Sunday. Pack up Fido and bring him to a charity dog wash at the Bark & Brew. If you’re hungry after, join in for some great grub at The Oak Street Mill Food Truck Invitational. We have several different movies and films on our calendar for Saturday and Sunday; surely one will peek your interest. How about some Legion Baseball or a concert series at Birkdale? You could also catch the opening weekend of 42nd Street as it continues to wow audiences. Read the full story

This week is full of an array of events that are happening around our community. On Monday there will be two golf tournaments. Chicks with Sticks and The Curry Celebrity Classic. On Tuesday and Wednesday bring the kids to a dollar movie at Birkdale Village. On Thursday, Davidson Community Players will present 42^ndStreet, and Bella Love will host an open-mic night at Kadi Fit. Bring your teens and “tweens” to a concert on Friday at The Warehouse, and then take a stroll to downtown Cornelius for an art exhibition at the Community Arts Project. There are also several local meetings that are on the agenda for this week, including a discussion with a local commissioner that you may not want to miss. Read the full story
