With fall (hopefully) around the corner, autumn festivities are beginning. Apple picking at Carrigan Farms and an autumn wine tasting at Millstone Bake House & Provisions are both on the calendar this week. Also in the coming days are story time at the library, a beer pairing at Bacchus Wine & Tapas, a ‘Tawba Walk Arts & Music Festival in Cornelius, food trucks galore and live music all over the Lake Norman area.  There will be two open houses this week: one at  Davidson-Cornelius Child Development Center and another at Peninsula Yacht Club in Cornelius to introduce the The Sea Scouts program. Meetings include Tuesday’s night’s gathering of the anti-toll group Widen I-77, a Davidson Town Board meeting Tuesday, Toastmasters, The BNI Winners Circle and The Kiwanis Club. Read on for more. With the Chiquita Classic at River Run still in town and the Yiasou Greek Festival down the road in Charlotte, the first weekend in September is shaping up to be a great one! In addition to these two popular events, we have three farmer’s markets, a Potter’s Market at the Mint Museum, Seussical Jr. auditions, an Art Festival at Plaza Midwood, an improv show at The Warehouse in Cornelius and a Davidson College football game. The Rumor Mill in Davidson will hold an open house in honor of their one-year anniversary, and “Simplified” will perform at The Chiquita Classic on Saturday. Our weekend calendar surely will offer a little something for just about every enthusiast in our readership. For those of you seeking some outdoor recreational exercise, we have both a 5K and a triathlon for you. The Carolina Aviation Museum will host a free community day on Saturday, and the local towns of Davidson, Huntersville and Mooresville will host their local farmer’s markets. We have a food tour and a casino charity evening. We have a long list of weekend music venues, including the “Between Two Rivers” music festival in downtown Belmont. For the reptile, bird and dog aficionados, we have three appropriate events for you on Saturday and Sunday.
