Davidson art crawls helping to build night life downtown

Several dozen artists, craftspeople and local businesses will be out on Main Street in Davidson Saturday night, Nov. 15, for a Downtown Davidson Holiday Art Crawl, hosted by Sanctuary of Davidson Gallery.
The crawl runs from 6-9pm with artists displaying and selling their handmade art work and gifts on the Main Street sidewalk, showing painting, jewelry, textiles, pottery, children’s items, metalwork and more. Local musicians will provide entertainment, several shops will have wine or beer tastings, and some plan face painting and craft activities for “kid crawlers.”
The crawl extends from South Main to North Main streets, and around the corner on Depot Street at the Rumor Mill Market.
Kristen Feighery, owner of Sanctuary of Davidson and founder of the downtown Davidson art crawl series, said the crawls have continued to grow, perhaps because they provide a fun outing downtown.
“What’s working is … It’s night life, and it involves the whole town,” Feighery said.
Mandolinist extraordinaire Michael Orlando will provide entertainment at Sanctuary of Davidson. Another local favorite, Ricky Calud-Ellis, will play acoustic music as well at the Case Building, a few doors up. At the Rumor Mill, Chris Montgomery is scheduled to perform.
