Before we say goodbye to September, the month is wrapping up with myriad events. There are town meetings, library events and a teen council meeting. As we draw closer to the weekend, we have a wellness fair, a grand opening of South Main Sweet Shop, a disco costume party at LangTree Lake Norman, a charity event at The Hope House, “Fuddy Meers” at The Warehouse and live music galore! Davidson College will host Keigwin + Company as part of its Smith Artist Series, and our local Jewish readers observing Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year) can find out details about where holiday observation will take place. At The Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, the Arts and Science Council will host an all day meeting Tuesday called “Imagine 2025: Share the Vision.” This is a creative and interactive arts event, featuring speakers in the fields of art, education, energy, design and health services.

The monthly Davidson Town Hall meeting will take place at 4pm, and for your teens that are interested in learning about events and volunteer opportunities for teenagers in the Lake Norman area, The Lake Norman Teen Council Executive Board will hold its first meeting at Bailey Middle School, also on Tuesday.

Laugh out loud or lay back low on Tuesday night at either the Comedy Zone where James Gregory will perform or at The Rusty Rudder where Scott Johnson will take the stage at 5:30pm.

On Wednesday, Davidson College will hold a building-skills-for-social-change workshop at 8:30am at Knobloch Campus Center Alvarez- Smith. Take a break afterwards and enjoy the Cornelius Cultural Art Group’s food truck selection-of-the-week for lunch. Cooler temperatures will bring you out on Wednesday night to hear live music at Flatiron or at The Rusty Rudder.
Sundown will bring the start of the Rosh Hashanah holiday, and for those who observe, Temple Kol Tikvah will hold gatherings and services beginning at 6pm at Fairview United Methodist Church.

Continuing into Thursday, participate in a community nosh, children’s service and a Rosh Hashanah worship service at Fairview United Methodist Church. There will be a “Taschlich” service that follows at Roosevelt Wilson Park where attendees will “cast off” their sins of the previous year by tossing pieces of bread or another food into a body of flowing water with hopes to start the New Year with a clean slate.

At The North Mecklenburg Senior Center in Huntersville, the 7th annual Wellness Fair will be held on Thursday morning at 9am.

Main Street in downtown Davidson is ecstatic to add a little “sweetness” to the Street with the opening of South Main Sweet Shop. Join this new business for a light lunch as they celebrate their grand opening from 11am-1pm.

The Davidson Planning Board will hold an open house at Town Hall from 2-7pm, and Toastmasters will meet at 6pm at The U Center in Mooresville.

Thursday evening is for entertainment. Whether you choose to head to The Warehouse for a performance of “Fuddy Meers,” The Whitewater Center for River Jam, or live music at Bacchus Wine and Tapas, Summit Coffee, The Corkscrew or The Rusty Rudder, you are sure to be showered with variety and talent.

Find yourself, like we did this past Saturday, truly “amazed” at Rural Hill’s Amazing Maize Maze from 10am-5pm on Friday.

And for those of you like my husband who seek to improve your Spanish reading, speaking and listening skills, The Cornelius Library encourages you to join them at their Spanish conversation group for English speakers which is geared to intermediate-level speakers.

Also on Friday morning, join Temple Kol Tikvah on South Street in Davidson for a Rosh Hashanah morning service at 10:30am. After your busy morning, have lunch in the lot at the Oak Street Mill. Keep the food truck fun going for dinner in South End where a gathering of food trucks will feed your belly and music will fill your soul on Friday night.

Stay Alive on Friday for LangTree Live’s Costume Disco Party. There will be free live music from 7-10 pm, drink specials from LangTree Restaurants and a fantastic selection of shopping specials.
Circle to the left, circle to the right and then circle your way over to The Hope House Foundation’s Cowboy Hoedown at the Peninsula Club at 6:30pm. Join this important charity for a fun-filled evening including dinner, cash bar and live and silent auction items along with music by national recording artist Tony Bailey and the Electric Rodeo Band.

The infamous Keigwin + Company who have skillfully bridged the gap between artistry and entertainment, creating dances that are accessible and engaging to broad audiences, will perform at Davidson College on Friday evening as part of the college’s Smith Artist Series.
