We have a wide range of events this weekend to get you through these last few dog days of summer! This weekend’s calendar features three different farmer’s markets in Huntersville, Davidson and Mooresville, Flight Shows and a Monster Truck Rally. We also have an array of live music and an outing in NC wine country. There’s a food tour for you foodies and a ghost tour for you ghost enthusiasts. There is a Classroom Central fundraiser at the Charlotte Trolley Museum, as well as a paddleboarding class, a Colonial Life in the Backwoods demonstration and an Art Therapy 101 class. We will certainly keep you pleasantly entertained, so read on for details.
Maybe you’ve been cooped up in a quiet office all week and want to change it up a bit. Well how about some five-ton trucks, 2,000 horsepower engines and a dynamic display of 11-foot-tall trucks (not to mention lots of rowdy spectators)? If this sounds enticing, you’ll want to be at the Charlotte Motor Speedway for the 15th Annual Circle K Back-to-School Monster Truck Bash.
Perhaps you want a more “subtle” Saturday? No problem; Latta Plantation presents Colonial Life in the Backwoods. This event will guide you through a demonstration, so you will learn what it was like to prepare for the American Revolution.
Soar to new heights on Saturday and Sunday at the Carolina Raptor Center’s Flight Show which runs through Labor Day weekend. Looking to wine and dine Saturday afternoon? You’ll want to meet at the Brickhouse in Davidson for the Davidson Food Tour.
At the charming Trolley Museum in Charlotte there will be a festive fundraiser full of live music and cocktails that will benefit Classroom Central. This organization allows teachers and other school personnel in qualifying schools to shop free for school supplies.

Our Saturday evening playlist is by far the best in town. The Carrburrators will deliver some 1950s and 1960’s jazz to your table as you enjoy some authentic Mexican cuisine. Bacchus Wine and Tapas will present Handsome Rebellion. The Early Arrivals will perform as part of Mingling on the Green in Birkdale Village, and Dixie Moon will be at Summit Coffee Co. On Saturday night the Indie Rock Band, Burning Bright will take the late-night stage at the Rusty Rudder, and on Sunday afternoon, Scott and Woody will perform. If you haven’t been, we suggest taking a stroll down to the US Whitewater Center for River Jam, a show that will not disappoint.
Cornelius PARC Department and My Aloha Paddle Sports and Fitness are teaming up to offer an intro-to-paddleboarding class at Ramsey Creek Park. If you’re interested in a guided walking tour with a twist, then look no further than Ghost Walk of Davidson. You will receive a guided historic tour of Davidson, a lovely small town rich in history and folklore, while listening to the local history, ghost stories and local haunts.
Looking for an idea for a daytrip on Sunday? Adagio Vineyards in Elkin presents “Vine and Violins.” Sunday night in Huntersville, the Mingling on the Green concert in Birkdale Village will feature Robert E. Trice Junior at 9pm.
