On Monday, the kids over to the Davidson Library for the family movie, “Monsters University.” Have an adult evening by heading to Summit Coffee in Davidson for trivia night.
Tuesday at the Davidson Library, enjoy their feel-good event, “Paws-to-Read.” Here your children will read a story with a local service dog. On Tuesday and Wednesday mornings stay cool inside at the Regal Birkdale Stadium 16 and enjoy a dollar movie with the little ones.
How does Legends Car and Bandolero racing, school bus racing and a huge fireworks extravaganza sound? If the answer is “awesome,” then the Charlotte Motor Speedway is where you’ll want to be for The Summer Shootout. There will be live music at the Rusty Rudder and Shag Lessons at Fat Boys in Mooresville to top off your Tuesday.
Wednesday morning at North Mecklenburg Senior Center, refresh your CPR skills at an American Heart Association Friends and Family CPR class. Also Wednesday, feast on food truck fare in the lot of the Oak Street Mill from 11 to 2.
Lay back on the lake Wednesday evening as Scott Munn performs at the Rusty Rudder at 5:30pm. On Thursday night you can hear the tunes of Drew Skinner at the same time.
Thursday morning bright and early, network with local professionals at The Lake Norman Kiwanis Club meeting which will be held at the Acropolis Restaurant. Your eager eaglets are sure to enjoy a preschool program at the Carolina Raptor Center on Thursday. There, they can enjoy making a craft, painting or other type of small art project to take home.
Citizens are invited to hear Michael Skipper, AICP from the Nashville Area Metropolitan Planning Organization as part of the 2014 Southeast Regional Health Impact Assessment Summit at Davidson College at 10:30am Thursday at Davidson College.
For food and wine lovers, Millstone Bake House & Provisions will host “An Evening in Italy” on Thursday with Italian wines, hand-made pizzas, and a hand-pulled mozzarella demonstration.
Take in acoustic music, enjoyable wine and beer tasting, delicious food and a lovely evening at The Carolina Raptor Center’s Latta Plantation Nature Preserve as part of their Thursday Night Flights Summer Series. A pleasurable Thursday evening continues at the US Whitewater Center as they present River Jam, a talented line-up of national musical acts that provide the perfect back drop for a fun summer evening outdoors. Lastly, Bacchus Wine and Tapas in Mooresville, where the popular local duo Wally & Dave play beginning at 7.
I bet you won’t be angry it’s Friday, but 12 angry men will be at the Armour Street Theater where Davidson Community Players will perform “12 Angry Jurors.” Enjoy the stage rendition of the classic play and film, “Twelve Angry Men,” concerning bigotry and justice in America.
All day Friday, three former Navy SEALs will swim 12.2 miles across Lake Norman, from Queens Landing to the Rusty Rudder, to raise awareness of the problem of suicide among US Military Veterans. Join them for a post-swim party at 7pm at the Rudder.
For music connoisseurs, our list of Friday night music venues is guaranteed to impress you. Michael Wolf and D.B.A. will perform as part of Birkdale Village’s Mingling on the Green Concert Series. Early Ray followed by Mr. Pink will be at the Rusty Rudder starting at 5:30pm, and Reeve Coobs, a true singer-songwriter from the south, will be at Summit Coffee Co. If you’re a night owl, the Galway Hooker will present live music at 10pm in Kenton Place.
On Saturday evening, kids 2-12 can join in the Lake Norman YMCA Kids Triathlon, a mini triathlon starting and ending at the Y in Cornelius.
And mark your calendar for Sunday evening, when Davidson’s Concerts on the Green series returns on the Village Green, with the Beatles’ tribute The Backbeat.
